The Cultural Alliance of York County Elects New Board Leadership

York, PA – The Cultural Alliance of York County is proud to welcome four new board members, as well as our 2020 Executive Board, elected at the December 2019 board meeting.

Board Director Aaron Bowers currently holds the position of Area Manager/Senior Vice President for PNC Bank.  He has been with PNC for 23 yrs with assignments in Wilmington DE, Chicago IL and now Central PA.  Aaron is a former board member of Easter Seals of Joliet, IL and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Wesley College in Dover DE.   Aaron, his wife Donnielle Bowers and 3 wonderful daughters currently reside in York.



Board Director Ophelia Chambliss, originally from Chicago, IL, currently resides in York, Pennsylvania. Chambliss has been working as a fine artist for several years, participated in a number of juried shows, and has successfully completed a number of large scale, and permanent art installations.  Ophelia has a BA in Communication from PSU, as well as an MA in Communications from PSU Capitol Campus and is an adjunct with York College of Pennsylvania and Penn State University, York Campus.  She has worked with a number of organizations and non-profits throughout York county to build community, change the narrative about culture and race, and create a more inclusive social fabric, including the York County History Center, and the Cultural Alliance.

Board Director Vicki Karandrikas is an energy and utility attorney in the York office of McNees Wallace & Nurick LLC.  Vicki is a member of the York and Dauphin County Bar Associations.  She has served as the Chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Public Utilities Law Section, and as well as Chair of the Energy Bar Association’s State Commission Practice Committee.  Vicki is also a member of McNees’s Pro Bono Committee.  Vicki has volunteered on the Cultural Alliance’s Grant Allocation Committee as well as Anniversary Gala Planning Committee. She is also a member of the Rotary Club of York.  Vicki, her husband Garrett, and their daughter Anna, live in York. 

Board Director Bryan Tate, is a York native and the newly elected Register of Wills & Clerk of Orphans’ Court for York County.  Previously, Bryan served for 14 years as Vice President at York County Community Foundation, and 12 years as Chief of Staff to former Congressman Todd Platts, who represented York County and South-Central Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives.  He is Immediate Past President and a multiple Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary Club of York, President of the Board of the Miss Pennsylvania Scholarship Foundation, Founder of the Spring Grove Alumni Chorus, and serves as Master of Ceremonies of Encore, the York County High School Musical Theater Awards.

Founded as a United Arts Fund in 1999, the Cultural Alliance’s annual campaign currently supports eight partner agencies that are essential to arts and culture in our community and over the last 20 years has invested over $10.4 million in cash and $2.2 million in in-kind support for the arts.   Under its new more inclusive and diverse operating model, The Cultural Alliance will be expanding its funding to further grow and strengthen arts and culture in York County.
