Cultural Alliance of York County Announces New President
York, PA – The Board of Directors of the Cultural Alliance of York County have announced that President Mary Anne Winkelman, who has served the Cultural Alliance of York County for 17 years, will be retiring at the end of 2018. Winkelman plans to step down effective December 31st.
Succeeding Mary Anne Winkelman will be Kelley Gibson. Before being named President, Mrs. Gibson served for five years as the Director of Communications and Engagement at the Cultural Alliance. In her new role starting January 1, 2019, Mrs. Gibson will be responsible for the day to day leadership, management and success of the Cultural Alliance of York County, including planning, organizational leadership, staff supervision and development, fund development, fiscal management, and relationship building with business, government and the community.
“Leadership succession is the single most important decision that any Board will make,” stated Tony Campisi, Cultural Alliance Board Chair. “It sends a message to all stakeholders that the Board believes the new leader has the essential qualities required to advance the mission and vision of the organization with new ideas for growth and impactful change while always being mindful and respectful of the past. I believe that Kelley Gibson has the vision, passion, energy, leadership skills, operational knowledge, relationship building skills and an endless love for the arts that make her a perfect fit for the role of President of the Cultural Alliance. The Board is absolutely delighted that Kelley will be leading the Cultural Alliance as we evolve under our new operating model to become a more inclusive and diverse organization and continue our mission to be the premier promoter and funder of arts and culture in our community.”
Prior to joining the Cultural Alliance, Kelley Gibson worked for Imwave, Inc., an online marketing firm based in York where she held an account management position and launched effective online marketing campaigns for a multitude of national and international clients. Mrs. Gibson started her career in the arts by becoming the first-ever Director of Marketing & Development for YorkArts Arts Center, a partner agency of the Cultural Alliance. Mrs. Gibson currently serves on the board for Citizens in the Arts in Pennsylvania, the Commonwealth’s only statewide multidisciplinary arts advocacy organization.
A 1996 graduate of York College of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor’s degree in English, Mrs. Gibson has over 15 years of increasing leadership roles and responsibilities within the arts and culture community in York County. She lives in York with her husband Joel and her two daughters, Madelyn and Kaelin.
Founded as a United Arts Fund in 1999, the Cultural Alliance’s annual campaign supports eight partner agencies that are essential to arts and culture in our community and funds the Creative Impact Award grants that bring arts and culture to life in York County.
