Kelley Gibson Joins Citizens for the Arts in PA Board of Directors
Citizens for the Arts in Pennsylvania, the Commonwealth’s only statewide multidisciplinary arts advocacy organization, has elected Kelley Gibson, Director of Communications and Engagement with the Cultural Alliance of York County, as a member of their Board of Directors. Gibson will assist the Citizens for the Arts in PA staff communicate the value and impact of the arts to decision makers in media, government, corporate, and philanthropic sectors and take a stand on legislation and public policy that affect the arts.
On the Citizens for the Arts in PA Board of Directors, Gibson will advise, govern, oversee policy and direction, and assist with the leadership and general promotion of Citizens for the Arts in Pennsylvania so as to support the organization’s mission and needs. Gibson will serve a three-year term, from August, 2017 to August, 2020.
Kelley Gibson is the Director of Communications and Engagement with the Cultural Alliance of York County, a United Arts Fund that brings arts & culture to life through its operational funding of eight essential cultural partners and project-based grants to organizations that positively impact the community through the arts. As Director, she leads the agency’s external communication strategy, public relations building, and engages in community partnerships on projects that bring arts and culture to life in the community.

For over 38 years, Citizens for the Arts in PA has worked diligently to cultivate grassroots networks to band together and work towards the goal of increased public support for arts and culture. Advocacy efforts focus on issues such as the state and federal appropriations for cultural agencies, inclusion of the arts in school curriculums, and tax credit programs that include arts and culture.
As the Commonwealth’s only statewide multidisciplinary arts advocacy organization, Citizens maintains contact with the Governor’s office, members of the Pennsylvania General Assembly, specifically those who are members of the Legislative Arts and Culture Caucus, and the Pennsylvania Congressional delegation. Additionally, Citizens coordinates grassroots legislative and congressional advocacy visits with constituents and public policy decision makers during Pennsylvania Legislative Visit Day in April and National Arts Advocacy Day in March. Founded as a United Arts Fund in 1999, the Cultural Alliance of York County is a Catalyst, fueling the creative energy and vibrancy of the York community through Leadership, Collaboration, and Sustainability in order to enrich the quality of life of all citizens.
