YorVoice Music Showcase: Competitors Announced!

The Cultural Alliance of York County is hosting their 5th annual music showcase on March 30th from 7:30-9:30 pm at the Appell Center for the Performing Arts. “YorVoice” is a friendly competition bringing the community together to enjoy listening to a night filled with talented musicians who want to share their love of music with others. The YorVoice mission is to inspire York pride, celebrate the arts and their impact on our community, highlight local talent, and most importantly, raise awareness for our 2019 Annual Campaign.

In the 2018 competition, local acoustic duo the Beaver Street Brethren were crowned our Live Band Champion, and singer Scarlet Rose was crowned our Vocal Champion. This year they are coming back in a combined opening performance to introduce a whole new group of competitors.

YorVoice will be emceed by the hilarious and unpredictable Cal Weary and will feature live performances by his house band Boompop Coalition.  Celebrity judges this year include country singer-songwriter Kayla Kroh, WPMT Fox-43’s Ali Bradley,  Beaver Street Brethren member Andrew Gobel, Studio 117 co-founder Lee King, and York County Senior Honors Choirs Director Randy Yoder.

YorVoice 2019 performers:

 YCRB:  The York College Division of Music has put together an amazing band of talented music industry students for YCRB – York College Rock Band! Led by Dr. Shawn David Young, they’ll be performing “Money for Nothing” by Dire Straits.

 Teagan Tatcher: Twelve-year old York Suburban Middle School student Teagan Tatcher is excited to make her debut at YorVoice. Teagan has a passion for singing and has been singing at a very young age, she is also in the chorus at school.  She is also involved with Karate and is currently a first degree black belt. She loves reading and math, also enjoys participating in school activities. She is also on the distinguished honor roll. Teagan will be performing an acapella version of “Lost Boy” by Ruth B.

Perfection: Joy Agumadu, Aunjalea Banks, Mia Brand, Paige Mullins, Khora Pawelczyk, Steven Roland-Washington and Kaden Wood are PERFECTION, York Academy Regional Charter School 9th graders and friends. New to the YorVoice stage, they’ll be performing “No Scrubs” by TLC.

Gerald Eyster: Making his return to the YorVoice stage, Gerald is a state highway worker who loves sharing his voice with others. He’ll be performing “Brandy” by Looking Glass.

Playing with Mischief:  Comprised of York Academy Regional Charter School 9th graders Erica Baum, Ane Kirk-Jadric, Lillian McNally, Michaelina O’Rourke, Sergio Paul and Troi Steele, Playing with Mischief will be making their YorVoice debut with “Everybody Talks” by Neon Trees.

Jeanette Parker: Jeanette has been singing since a she was a child at church, weddings and local events. She’s been singing Karaoke for the last several years and met so many wonderful people who have not only inspired her to keep singing but have now become part of her family.  She’ll be singing “Last Dance” by Donna Summer

LYNJMA: Lynjma is comprised of friends and York Academy Regional Charter School 8th graders Julyssa Acevedo, Emilyn Bedell,  Emma Klimchock, and Morgan Mullins.  These new-comers to the YorVoice stage will be performing “Without Me” By Halsey.

Amber Harlow: Amber is a Pennsylvania native who found her love of musical theater at a young age, with her first role as Brigitta in “The Sound of Music.” She studied vocal performance at The Catholic University of America, which lead to her starting a career as a professional stage manager in the Washington DC theater community, which she pursued for about 10 years before moving back to PA. Today Amber works with Glatfelter Insurance Group as a member of their Underwriting Services team. She is thrilled to represent GIG for YorVoice, and excited to be back on stage for such a great cause! She’ll be performing “I Know the Truth” from Aida.

See the Elephant: Made up of musicians who also happen to hold down day jobs at Menchey Music Stores, this band was made to rock the YorVoice stage! John Mayer sings lead vocals and plays acoustic guitar, bass and harmonica, Roger Sine sings lead vocals and lead electric guitar, Mike Skelton plays bass, and Joe Clark sings lead vocals and plays drums. They’ll be performing an original song entitled; “Running Man.”

Jessica Pastelak: This will be Jess’s 2nd time performing for YorVoice, sharing her talent and her love of live music from the Appell Center Strand stage.  This year she will be singing “Girl Crush” by Little Big Town.

Tickets are on sale now! General admission tickets for YorVoice are $20. When you purchase five or more tickets are just $15 each. Limited number of $50 VIP tickets including a pre-show catered reception and meet & greet with celebrity judges in the Appell Center Donor Lounge also available.
