Make Music Day, Saturday June 21st!

York, PA – (June 9, 2025) – The Cultural Alliance of York County will host Make Music Day on June 21st, a full day of interactive, musical events. Over 45 musicians, music educators and organizations will host musical events and performances in locations across York County on Saturday, June 21st. Presented by WellSpan Health and with support from the M&T Bank Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, Members First, and Explore York, the event will be in partnership with York Arts Week.  Make Music Day, York County will have featured musicians and activities at other festivals on June 21st including Get Crafted: Fine Arts, Fine Crafts and Spirits Festival, as well as the City of York’s Juneteenth Celebration, “Lift Every Voice”.

Saturday, June 21st Join us downtown in Cherry Lane Park just before 11am where President Commissioner, Julie Wheeler will give comments to kick off Make Music Day in York County at 10:50am, followed by a performance by the Unforgettable Big Band.

Featured Events during Make Music Day Include:
York Jewish Community Center

· 12:00pm-1:30pm: School of Rock Performance

Market District:

· 11am-3pm in Cherry Lane: Unforgettable Big Bang, Juan and Maggie Mafnas

· 10am-1pm in front of Trinity Lutheran Church: Rod Goelz Music and Wellness interactive percussion and music making, followed by Michael Gurklis giving a didgeridoo presentation!

· 11am-1:00pm at Heidelburg UCC: Performance by the Matinee Music Club and a unique, hands-on music making experience with Andrew Gobel featuring Makey Makey electronic kits

· 11am-4pm on Continental Square: Shine Music Foundation performances and open studio

· 11am-3:15: Organ Crawl with Dan Brownell, begins at First Presbyterian Church

· 12pm-1pm: ”The Mystery of the Naked Violin”, kids story hour at Martin Library with Gretchen and Noah Dekker

Appell Center for the Performing Arts

· 11:00am-3pm: Piano-thon, continuous piano playing by the York Music Teachers Association. Pianists of any age and experiences level invited to join in and play.

· 11-11:40: Musical Theatre Karaoke in the Capital Theatre

· 12:00-1:30: Jazz Jam in the Capital Theatre

· 3:30-5:00pm: Keystone Opera Performance

Get Crafted: Fine Arts, Fine Crafts and Spirits Festival in Royal Square

· 11-12:30pm: Papa Rob

· 1-2:30: Olds Sleeper/Olds and the Absolution

· 3:30-5:00pm: Aliccia and Logan

“Lift Every Voice” Juneteenth Celebration in York City

· 12:00pm-3:00pm at Campus Park outside of Vonie B. Grimes gym featuring unique vendors, drum circle, performances by Coco Shantelle, the Temple Guard and more.

Keystone Kidspace

· Free entry from 10am-1pm, participate in Everyday Orchestra led by Andrew Gobel and a unique electronic music making experiences, make your own ukelele or rainstick or start your own drum circle on the patio!

Gross Park Pavilion (Lincoln Park)

· 11:30-12:30pm: Amy Peck, a selection of country and rock standards

· 12:45-2:30: Marlyn Warner

· 3:00pm-4:00pm: Juan and Maggie Mafnas

· 4:15pm-5:30pm: Fabian Salamanca

WECO District

· 11:00am-2:00pm at Gather256, performance by Fabian Salamanco

· 3:00pm-5:00pm at Pedal 4 Peace Hub #1, 451 W. Clarke avenue: Evolution of Hip Hop Dance with live DJ. A unique selection of music and hip hop dance that highlights the evolution of the culture over time. Dancers of all levels welcome to join.

Penn-Mar Irish Festival-Parking Lot 1

· 11:00am-2:00pm performance by Ian Carroll in the parking lot prior to entering the festival. More information and tickets for the festival at https://pennmaririshfestival.com

VFW Post 556

· 6:00-11:00pm: Free all ages punk show featuring: Urban Waste, Bad to Worse, Doc Rotten and The Goons. Presented by Raptor Rise Collective
